DOG MIT? Get him out in 3 minutes!

In the warm season, dog lovers are very afraid to encounter ticks in their dogs, because this is fraught with very serious consequences. Ticks that live in our area are often carriers of infectious diseases, which often lead to death.

To combat this problem, dog owners use a variety of tools:

Shampoos

Sprays

Collars

Drops;

Tablets.

You can read more about each of these tools here.

Great article about the BRAVECTO tick pill.

However, no remedy can guarantee 100% bite protection. That is why PetGlobals advises after each walk to inspect his pet for insects. If, unfortunately, you notice an already ticked tick, do not panic, but follow a simple algorithm of actions that will help you painlessly for your pet and quickly remove the tick.

Tick extraction: instruction

In order to get a tick you will need the following:

Thread (absolutely any, but comfortable to use long);

Flashlight (if the house is poorly lit + in order to better see the place of the bite and the tick itself);

Disinfectant.

It’s best to sit closer to the window so that there is more light. If the dog is fluffy, try to spread the coat, hold it for someone to make it more convenient for you. Take the thread and make a loop out of it. The loop must be positioned so that the body of the tick is inside it. Gradually, you need to narrow it to capture the insect.

It is more convenient to do this by holding one half of the loop and tightening the other.

Of course, this does not always work out so easily, especially if the tick has not yet had time to drink blood and is very small in size. Take your time, and try to make your movements more accurate.

After you have managed to get a tick, start slowly, without hurrying to pull it out. If he dug very hard and does not want to get out, bring the two ends of the thread together and gently scroll.

The main thing is to get the whole tick!

Klesch

After you have removed the tick, treat the site of the bite with a disinfectant. Be sure to monitor the condition of your dog.

In case you notice any suspicious symptoms, be it lethargy, drowsiness, refusal to eat or drink, dark urine, etc., immediately take the dog to the veterinarian.

We hope that this problem will bypass you and your dog. Be healthy!
