Moscow long-haired and short-haired Weimaraner nursery. (FCI-Standard N 99 / 13.02.2002) Country: Germany. Using. A versatile hunting dog. Historical reference. There are many, often conflicting, opinions about the origins of the Weimaraner. Until the middle of the 19th century, the breed was practiced by professional hunters and foresters in the central regions of Germany, mainly on the outskirts of Weimar, in Thuringia. Since pickling dogs were no longer used in the 19th century, a new breed was created on the basis of bird guards (huhnerhund)
