How to raise a puppy in 2-3 months

Raising and training a puppy should be done from the moment it appears in your house. And it is worth starting with building trusting relationships, establishing rules (what is possible and what is not), as well as accustoming to the nickname. And only after that they begin to learn the teams. Therefore, training as such can be delayed to a later age.

How to teach a puppy a nickname

Your main task is to evoke positive associations with a nickname in a dog. Sit opposite him at a distance of 2-3 meters, reach out with a treat and affectionately call a little tailed friend by name. When he takes the tidbit, praise and say the nickname again.

Repeat the exercise 5-7 times, and after a couple of hours do it again. The next day, fix the result and gradually increase the distance from which you call the animal. After a few days or weeks (depending on the learning ability of the baby), the dog should come running to you after pronouncing the nickname even from another room in order to get delicious food.

You can also repeat the name while feeding and playing with your favorite balls. Thanks to this, you will cause positive emotions that will be associated with the nickname.

Frequent walks with a puppy are the key to a good upbringing

In order for the dog to quickly get used to meeting his needs on the street, bring him out often and at about the same time. It’s not necessary to take a long walk every time. Every day, arrange 2-3 main walks for 20-60 minutes and 3-4 additional walks for 5-10 minutes.

Each time a pet makes a "puddle" or a "bunch" on the street, joyfully praise him with affectionate words and give a small piece of an attractive treat for him. For stool in the house do not scold and in no case punish. The dog does this not from evil and not in revenge, but simply because he is physiologically incapable of enduring for a long time. But your praise perfectly motivates him to defecate exclusively outside the home.

In addition, walking with a puppy will help you build the right trusting relationship. The more often you interact together, the better contact is made.

Puppy Games

At home, ask your pet to bring balls and any other items for porting. To make it easier to train in the future, already at this stage teach not only to bring them, but also to give them.

To induce the dog to run after the aport, set the subject in motion and try to tease the pet. When the hunting instinct wakes up in the animal, it will try to grab the “prey”, but you do not immediately give it away, but pull it. This will provoke even more. Then let me grab it and at that moment say: "Good, well done." Continue to tease the dog with “running prey”, then throw it a few meters away from you. When the pet grabs the aport, praise.

To teach the puppy to give things back, offer him another toy (it’s better exactly the same). In this case, it is convenient to use two pullers. When the dog releases the aport from its mouth, command “Give” and praise. Continue playing with the second item, then trade it for the first one in the same way. The difference between the two aportas is that the one you pick up comes to life (you set it in motion), so it becomes more attractive to the dog.

Also at home (and then on the street), engage with your pet in the search for his favorite toys, someone from your family. And do not forget to praise each time for a successfully completed task. Good and special puzzles that can be found in a pet store or craft with your own hands. The kid learns to think how to get the treasured delicacy from the box.

The concept of “5 freedoms” is the basis of animal welfare

Inexperienced owners often load teams of little puppies in vain. But at the age of 2-3 months it is more important for a baby to simply develop in a comfortable environment and according to understandable rules. And at the same time, the owner must strictly observe the so-called 5 freedoms (rights) for dogs:

From hunger and thirst. Watch for nutrition, it must be of high quality, balanced. Provide constant access to water.

From discomfort. Arrange for the dog a comfortable place, protected from drafts and noise. Even if you do not prohibit a pet from sleeping in your bed, it should still have its own den: whether it's just a rug, a soft couch or a separate sofa.

From injuries and illnesses. Keep your puppy in good health, get vaccinated on time. If you suspect a malaise, consult your veterinarian for help. So, if the dog can’t get used to going to the toilet on the street for a long time, check to see if he has kidney problems.

Freedom of manifestation of typical behavior. Do not forget that a dog is a separate biological species. Therefore, her thinking and, accordingly, behavior is different from human. The dog should receive a sufficient amount of physical and mental stress, communicate with relatives, learn new phenomena and explore different territories. Do not deprive him of this! And keep in mind that barking, sniffing marks under each bush and showing interest in dogs of the opposite sex is also normal for dogs. Therefore, do not scold for these actions.

From grief and suffering. Rid the dog of everything that prevents him from living comfortably next to you. First, eliminate the factors that cause stress and fear. Do not leave your four-legged friend alone for a long time, provide a large number of toys, be consistent and predictable in the upbringing and training, do not hurt, learn teams with the help of positive reinforcement.
