The origin of this breed does not include many decades, centuries, millennia.

The history of Peterbald began in the 90s of the last century. As a result of mating the world champion of the Oriental cat and the Don Sphynx, a litter of this new breed was obtained. The women who contributed to the development of the species are Olga Mironova and Tatyana Komarova.

Recognition of the SFF breed received in 1996, and already international registration - in 2003.

Breed description

The appearance of Peterbald is a combination of the exterior of the Oriental and the hairlessness of the Don Sphynx. At the moment, breeders tend to two types of appearance in the development of the breed - Siamese and Oriental. In this regard, mating with these cats are not prohibited by international organizations.

Description of Peterbald is impossible without detailing the features of his head. It is elongated, with flat cheekbones, almond-shaped eyes. On it are large, elongated, located in different directions ears.

The body is thin, neat, well built. Strong and athletic, it is located on long, thin limbs.

The skin of Peterbald deserves special attention. There are many options for its coverage, but we will select only the following:

Brush - wool on the body is present, it can be both long and short, mostly hard.

Brash Point - the coat is almost identical to Brash, with the exception of a shorter coat on certain parts of the body.

Velor - the body is covered with either long or short soft hair.

Flock - very velvety cover, which is characterized by the presence of very short hair (no more than 2-3 mm)

Very often the behavior of these cats is compared with the dog. This is explained by the fact that cats of the Peterbold breed are very strongly attached to their owner, they always come when they are called, they are very smart and they are well trained.

An important feature of Peterbald's character is their friendliness. They get along well with children and other animals.

What to feed such a pet?

The construction of the diet depends primarily on the physical characteristics of the pet, as well as on the time and financial capabilities of its owner.

You can feed Peterbald with both industrial feed and natural food prepared at home. Speaking of feed, it is worth giving preference only to proven manufacturers. Such a diet will contain all the necessary nutritional elements, vitamins and minerals. Plus it will be perfectly balanced.

Some manufacturers offer feeds that are developed according to the physiology of individual breeds.

Making a diet of natural food is more difficult and more time consuming. It should consist mostly of meat and fish. You can add to it cottage cheese, cereals, vegetables.

First, the skin of hairless Peterbald is devoid of natural protection from external factors, such as cold, wind and sun. That is why they are very fond of warm rooms.

In order to protect the cover from UV rays when going outside it is not superfluous to use sunscreen.

Of course, nature has not deprived this cat of the physiological barrier in the form of a specific lubricant, which inexperienced owners and veterinarians may even scare. You should not always, at the sight of her, try to completely redeem your pet. Simply wipe it with a damp cloth or cloth.
