Breed history

Unfortunately, today it is impossible to accurately identify the place and time of the beginning of the history of the Giant Schnauzer. According to some versions, it originates from the shepherd dogs, on the other - from the hunting dogs. There is even a theory that their origin is connected with dogs from Russia, but it is not confirmed in any way.

Similarly, we can only say that it is Germany that is the birthplace of these brave dogs.

Giant Schnauzer Description

These four-legged differ "angularity." Their torso looks quite strong and massive, but nonetheless compact. They have a long and strong neck, slightly sloping back, moderately broad chest and a tucked up belly. The tail is usually not cropped, but left in its natural form. Both front and rear limbs are not too close to each other, straight.

Giant Schnauzer Parameters:

Weight: 35-45 kg.

The head is proportional to the body, when viewed from the side it can be compared with a rectangle. It has high triangular ears that are bent around the cartilage. The transition from the forehead to the face is clearly marked due to the expressive eyebrows, which are one of the distinguishing features in the description of the Giant Schnauzer. The muzzle itself has a wedge shape and tapers closer to the black nose lobe. Eyes oval and dark.

The coat of these pets is very hard and thick. It consists of a warm undercoat and outer coat. According to the standard, only two variants of the Giant Schnauzer are allowed:

Dogs Giant Schnauzer differ lively mind, activity, passion for physical exercises and games. That is why the owner, whose favorite pastime is lying on the sofa for a long time, will not suit this dog. This nuance is very important to consider when establishing a Giant Schnauzer. Walking is desirable to carry out several times a day. They must be very long and moving. It is preferable to move away with the animal where there are no large concentrations of people, and lower it off the leash.

Thick and tough wool has one undoubted advantage - it does not fade. Therefore, the content in the apartment does not deliver a lot of trouble due to the constant cleaning of balls of wool. But because of this, there is a need for regular (at least 2 times a year) trimming, which will allow the dog to get rid of the already unnecessary part of the coat.

Special care is required only "beard and eyebrows", which it is desirable to comb daily, and the rest - the content of the Giant Schnauzer is no different from the care of other breeds of dogs.

Feeding the dog

As in the care, and in the matter of nutrition, these dogs are not whimsical. They fit any of the existing models of the diet:

The basic principles of the construction of the diet is that it should be mandatory useful, healthy, without preservatives and chemical additives. It is desirable that the animal received enough vitamins and minerals. To do this, you either need to purchase special additives, or choose food in which they are already included.

In this connection, the process of educating the Giant Schnauzer brings only one pleasure. Start the learning process as early as possible. It is important to initially show the authority of the owner and earn the trust and respect of the dog.
