History of the Russian Black Terrier

The place of origin of this breed is the USSR. It was there that the need arose to create a service dog with excellent physical and mental qualities:

Resistance to any meteorological conditions (thick, warm coat);

Adaptation for running on snow (wide paws);

Fast running (strong, long limbs);

Power;

Strong jaws;

Learning ability.

For this, the following four-legged were used: Newfoundland, Rottweiler, Giant Schnauzer, East European and Caucasian Shepherd Dogs, Airedale Terrier.

In the 50s of the last century, the sale of the first representatives of the new species began. An important date in the history of the Russian Black Terrier was the 1957th year - the display of 43 individuals at the All-Union Dog Show.

On September 29, 1983, the "giant" was registered with the International Cynological Federation (FCI).

Description of the Russian Black Terrier

The ideal word to describe this dog is "giant". This pet is very large, massive, athletic build. The description of the Russian Black Terrier is characterized by a straight back, wide neck, large chest, long, powerful limbs. The tail is shaped like a saber with a slightly thickened base. Very often it is stopped, but the natural length is not a disadvantage.

The head is large, but in proportion to the body. Stop, eyebrows are not too pronounced. The muzzle is rather short, but the skull is long.

The ears are triangular in shape, pressed tightly to the head. The eyes are oval, set wide apart. The nose is large and black.

The coat consists of two layers: a tough guard hair and a warm undercoat. Color, no matter how logical it may be, only one is possible - black.

Caring for Black Russian Terrier

First of all, this dog is a service dog. That is why she cannot become just a soft, kind pet for you. I would like to note that you should not get this dog if you live in an apartment. This will not be very convenient for you, your neighbors (the tailed beast barks very loudly) and, of course, for him. Serious physical activity is vital for the Russian black terrier. That is why the best option would be to keep in a country house, or rather on its territory. Thanks to the warm coat, the dog can safely live all year round on the street, in a booth or aviary. In winter, it is better to insulate it additionally.

As for caring for the Black Russian Terrier, the main difficulty is its coat. You need to bathe your pet only as needed. The undoubted plus is that the dog does not shed as abundantly as the same Pomeranets, York and other dogs. His coat is more likely to crumple, fall off. That is why do not forget about daily combing and occasional haircuts.

The bangs in front of the animal do not interfere. This is a very common myth. Do not cut it too much. Can be neatly stabbed if you really want to.

How to feed the Russian Black Terrier?

The giant just loves meat. Ideally, this should be ½ or 2/3 of his daily diet. First, it should be frozen, boiled to get rid of harmful bacteria and microorganisms. Use horse meat, lamb, beef. Chicken and pork are not the best choices.

Do not forget about the inclusion in the menu of a variety of cereals, sour milk, vegetables. This will diversify the diet and bring the necessary minerals and vitamins into it.

Today many dog ​​owners prefer to feed them dry food. This, you see, is easy and fast, but sometimes expensive. So, it's not worth drying the Russian Black Terrier.

This dog is handsome, self-sufficient, proud. That is why he will not become a simple servant of his master. Yes, of course, he is an excellent working pet, but you also need to respect his dignity.
