Sharpei origin history

The origin of Sharpei is fanned by many myths and riddles that are not so easy to solve. It is known for certain that the breed originates in China, where the dog was bred as a universal helper. The most credible is the theory that these four-legged ones are descendants of a mastiff or chow-chow, or maybe both, together, since in Shar-Pei, features of both breeds are observed.

The constitution, the structure of the skull, jaws indicate that Shar Pei (or his ancestors) were fighting dogs. This entertainment used to be very popular among different segments of the Chinese population, such as landowners, sailors and even pirates. After the rise of the Chinese economy of these animals, even simple peasants could afford, who transformed Shar Pei into a universal dog, suitable for both guarding and hunting.

Characteristic features

Do not know Shar Pei is impossible! It is often associated and compared with the hippo. Indeed, the Shar-Pei's head is rather large, wide, massive, with large folds (wrinkles). The eyes are almond-shaped, dark, usually look gloomy. The nose is black. The ears are set wide, triangular and slightly curved at the ends.
